Mary Martin | Humanistic Psychotherapist

Mary Martin

Person Centred Counsellor

I am a qualified and BACP registered therapist practicing full time in Glasgow City Centre. I have spent the majority of my career within the helping profession and the past 10 years working in a variety of roles within health and social care.

I can help with many common issues such as depression, feelings of anxiety and overwhelm, low self esteem, or a lack of purpose or direction in your life. I can support you to talk about past events in your life that may have been traumatic or tough to move on from and that are still affecting you today. I am also interested in helping clients with relationship or family issues who might struggle to resolve conflicts or set boundaries with other people. I have a particular interest in the work of Dr Elaine Aron and people who identify as Highly Sensitive.

My work as a therapist is informed by both my academic training in Psychology and Psychotherapy as well as my own personal struggles in striving for good mental health. I try to combine my theoretical knowledge of what can help with my own personal understanding of how challenging and overwhelming our difficulties can often seem. I believe this lived experience is critical for my success as a therapist as it adds a level of understanding and respect for clients that cannot be gained through training alone.

My usual fee is £40 per session. I offer the first session at a reduced fee of £20 to allow you to get to know me and decide if we could work well together. In the first instance, you are welcome to contact me by phone for an informal chat about how we might work together or what to expect. I aim to offer a warm and welcoming service to all my clients and will try my best to put you at ease.
